OPERATING ROOM MANAGER- $90,900-$136,200.00

This 150-bed hospital has provided high-quality health care for over 40 years. The facility is the first Accredited Chest Pain Center in Sumner County and a Certified Primary Stroke Center. The Birth Center features Sumner County’s only Level II NICU services which hosts spacious LDRP suites and a lactation boutique for inpatient and outpatient services. In addition, our facility is Gold Seal Certified in Total Hip and Total with The Joint Commission.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Surgical Services Nurse Manager ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.

What you will do in this role:

  • Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
  • Manage all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.
  • Oversee care of patients on unit, providing consistent support and expertise to staff
  • Perform duties in accordance with unit specific standards of care and evidenced by completion of a competency skills check list.
  • Maintain overall workflow of unit by ensuring proper staff levels.
  • Manage and coordinate all unit activities including safety procedures, unit goals and department operations.
  • Handle patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to improve patient care delivery.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Associate’s degree in nursing or RN Diploma required, bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee or compact state required.
  • Minimum 1 year of related clinical experience required.
  • Prior related clinical leadership experience required. Will consider previous Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Lead experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Additional Information:

  • Shift: Days, approx. 8 hours, Monday - Friday. 24/7 accountability for team but no regular call rotation, does go into staffing as needed but has not been consistent in the past.
  • Manager will oversee Central Sterile, OR, Anesthesia, and First Assists - 50 Direct Reports, 4-5 Coordinators.
  • 10 OR Beds - 2 Dedicated to OB, 3 Davinci XI Robots
  • Lots of Ortho, Bariatrics, and Vascular. Growing in those spaces/increasing services and adding additional Doctors. Majority is Elective Surgery, lots of Outpatient Volume, Inpatient Add-Ons come through.
  • Level III Trauma Facility
  • Team is interested in candidates that are very collaborative, especially interdepartmentally. Will work closely with Surgical Services Director and other Surgery Manager that is over PACU, Endo and Same Day Surgery
  • Manager role is vacant as the previous Manager has moved into the Director Role
